Falcon Feather Linocut

While out for a walk one morning, I came across this beautiful feather lying on the footpath. I picked it up and took it home, and now it sits proudly in an antique goblet on my art desk. From the moment I brought it home, I knew it would make a stunning linocut print!

Like all my other artworks, I often sketch or transfer the design onto the lino block, then play around with things as I carve, which is why this print looks a little different from the original feather. 

Each bookmark is printed by hand, meaning every piece has slight variations and its own unique character. It will age over time; the colours may fade, and the edges become worn, but that's part of the beauty, just like a feather would decay over time.
